Whenever I'm in town for a game, I end up in Dr. Funk's. It's honestly the best joint downtown. No other establishment comes close. The staff are so fly--they always make you feel comfortable, like you're a regular when you only come to town twice a year. Everyone here works their dang tushes off. I've never seen a single staff member lounging about. Drinks are handmade to order and just divine. There are other establishments nearby that only do batch cocktails, but not at Dr. Funk's. The quality is unmatched. I'd be remiss not to mention the interior--it is always on point, but the holiday decorations and themed drinks are absolutely fantastic. During the non-holidays times even, you're treated to a tiki bar environment that gives places like Disney a run for their money. It's very well decorated! Drinks are strong, price is right, vibes are immaculate. Don't miss this place when you're in San Jose!

The cocktails are rum only, with some beer selections on tap. They always do holiday specials with a list of menu items that are only there during that specific holiday week. Really fast and phenomenal customer service, as well as a fun laid back atmosphere. But I definitely avoid going there on super busy weekends/holidays/evenings if you don't like waiting or crowds lol

Dr.Funk is a Chill Tiki Bar in San Jose. We got drinks and chatted. Based on what drink you get the menu says what types of flavor they are so you get a drink to your liking. We got a Puka Punch and I forgot what the other drink was but both were pretty strong. The Puka Punch was fruity and nice. Dr.Funk wasn't busy at all since we went on a Tuesday.

Im super behind on this one but I couldn't forget about this amazing Tiki Bar! We came around Halloween on a whim and I was super impressed with the decor. Everything was Beetlejuice themed! If you've seen the movies then I'm sure you'd recognize at least one reference. My favorite were the pinstripe sandworms. The drinks hers are always tasty. This particular day I ordered the You're Dead which taste like if I drunk myself to a stupor. Very boozy but that's definitely what I wanted at the time. My go to at this place is the Phoenix Rising. If you are a Mezcal lover, this will be your new favorite drink. It comes over to your table just like its name sake. On fire. But I think it's perfect because of how smoky the Mezcal in the drink. But of course it wouldn't be a tiki drink if it didn't also have the coconut and pineapple flavors in it. On the finish you'll get a little bit off the Aperol which will give it a little bitterness and complexity to the cocktail. A little funk if you will. One of the things I love the most about Dr. Funk is that they have really good food. Not all Tiki Bars serve food, which is dangerous when you think how strong the drinks usually are. Maybe if I had some food in my stomach, I'd feel more comfortable about ordering an extra drink ya know? Which also means more money for the establishment. Everyone wins! But anyways. We ordered the Chicken Wings and the Curry Fries. Highly recommend both. The Chicken Wings had good flavor while being very crispy. With the fries I enjoyed the fact that they are basically Tikka Masala fries. The Yogurt drizzled on helps make the curry more creamy while also keeping it from being really spicy. Dr. Funk is the full package. Great service. Strong and tasty drinks. A great selection of food. And occasional special menus? I'm not in the San Jose area often but if I am, Dr. Funk is easily my go to bar for a good time.

This is a an amazing bar with great seasonal drinks. My friends and I really love the music and the decorations especially for Halloween and Christmas. All of the servers are so nice and I highly recommend asking them for their suggestions because they make the most tasty drinks. I'll definitely be back here again!

Such a fun tiki bar in downtown SJ. We made a reservation which was a good choice on a Friday night as it got busy. Our waitress was very polite and the rest of the staff was attentive as well. We came during October so it was also beetlejuice themed which was phenomenal. We tried the wings 6/10 and nacho fries 8/10. For drinks we had the "beetlejuice" and "little accident" special. From their regular menu Shaman King and Phoenix Rising (this comes to your table on fire, btw lol). All were really delicious! Most of the tables are big so a great place for friends!
